Ylang ylang essential oil is used for its floral fragrance in several massage oils and perfumes. It is known for its aphrodisiac properties, as well as its ability to soothe nerves and serve as a hair and skin tonic.
In aromatherapy, it is used as a sedative to relieve anxiety and agitation, as well as symptoms related to Pre-Menstrual Syndrome (PMS).
In cosmetics, it is used in hair care to tone weakened hair and prevent hair loss.
Cananga odorata genuina
For absorption through skin: Mix 5 to 10 drops with 1/2 teaspoon (2.5 ml) of a plant oil. Apply locally 3 times a day.
By diffusion (nervous system) : Add 4 to 12 drops to a bowl of hot water or to a diffuser. Inhale slowly for 5 to 10 minutes.
On hair: Dilute a few drops into shampoo.
FOR EXTERNAL AND OCCASIONAL USE ONLY. DO NOT USE THIS ESSENTIAL OIL UNDILUTED. KEEP AWAY FROM CHILDREN. In case of accidental ingestion, seek emergency medical care or call a Poison control centre. Avoid all contact with eyes and mucous membranes. In case of contact, rinse thoroughly with vegetable oil. Do not use during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. If you have epilepsy, consult a health care professional before using this product. Do not use if your skin is inflamed, damaged, irritated, sensitive, or if you have dermatitis. May cause an allergic reaction (i.e. skin rash, irritation, dermatitis and/or respiratory tract irritation). In case of a reaction, discontinue use and consult a health care professional. If you experience nausea, dizziness, headaches or an allergic reaction, discontinue use. Avoid exposing treated areas to sun. Consult a health care professional if symptoms worsen or persist.
